We received a mortgage with a high interest rate. We were doomed to fail. We are both hard working, and could not keep our house. Now, it sits empty. We've had it for sale, moved out and are not renting (an affordable amount each month). The house hasn't sold, they haven't accepted our request for a deed in lieu, and we are not eligible for your modification programs. Just an idea here, but why don't these mortgage companies redo these mortgages with affordable rates and mortgages and let people keep their homes?
More homes would be filled, not sitting empty, and more people would be able to keep what they've worked their whole life for.
