The protest Law in Egypt.
- Mahmoud I.
- Monday, 15 September 2014
The protest law that was enacted by the Egyptian interim president Adly Mansour is deemed unconstitutional because it was issued in the absence of a Parliament . The law criminalizes all forms of peaceful assembly, including demonstrations, public meetings , and gives the state free hand to disperse gatherings by use of force .
Thousands of Egyptian citizens have been violently arrested , detained and imprisoned without legal merit.
The United States must live up to its values and demand the immediate release of all persons who are currently detained or imprisoned due to this law.
The unconditional support of the USA's government to the brutal military dictator Al-Cici in Egypt is harming its repetition among the people of Egypt. The credibility of the US stance on freedom, democracy and human rights is eroding. It is not ethical to turn a blind eye to such level of violence the military regime is committing against the Egyptian people.
