My name is Jason Lee Smiddy, I have nothing to hide from you, but would like to ask something of you. Sir, I am a proud former member of the military circa 1989-1994, and then some gaurd service. I am currently recieving 20% disability, which I think I am due more, but hey. I am more concerned with all of our service members and womaen that are living on the street, and that I see daily. Sir, I have had to live on those same streets, been to prison, jail, etc. and my life is still not well; even though I have a temporary domicille. Although you are our current commander in chief, what exactly have you nor any of your predecessors done for any of the troops that have put their lives in the line of fire and what have any of us gotten back, I and my former Pershing II crewmembers suffer from the sounds od the klaxons, or the air raid warning sirens going off next to our beds on an isolated site in Germany. But, because it was the cold war era, and we did not see actual combat, and as many of the commendations s our units recieved. Ptsd is not available to us that still suffer the ringing of the sirens in our head every nght. Every service man and woman deserves the equal distinction of ptsd especially for all that we silently did for our country. I havent slept good since 1989. Thank you for your time, and Mr. president I now happen to be a felon in the commonwealth of ky after eing a hurrican victim, no offense, but I was a hero?
What of all of our cold war veterens that stood toe to toe to the soviet threat back i the day, it seems that now with the cold war situation looming that we may need these specialied troops back in action. But, my question is that why have we been denied the PTSD that more recent troops have been able to recieve. We as a whole may not have been in what can be called a conflict role to qualify. But we all stood on that line detering the USSR and all it stood for. We need to be recognized for a peacetime form of ptsd for which the definition says that you must have had a tramatic experience. Even in the army handbook does it say the same, please give us the benefits that we seek, we did a job that was something sosecret nobod else could do. Please give us ours!
