I am a concerned mother, grandmother, great grandmother

My name is Ev-Lyn Shaw, I am a life-long democrat, 65 years old, a retired educator, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I have lived in Tucson, AZ for the past 31 years. I have never written any letters to any other president before now, but I felt I need to express my thought and feelings now. I voted for you, and was so proud to finally see you become the 44th President of the United States so much so that I cried when you took the oath of the office, but now I am disappointed with the way you are handling the immigration crisis on our borders, which is my city, my back yard. The following is my opinion.

You have recently asked Congress for another $4 million to care for the thousands of children who have entered the United States illegally. In my opinon sending children to our shores by human traffiking is a terriost act. What about taking care of me, my children, my grandchildren, my great grandchildren, and for the children and the people who were born right here in the United States. We the people, can't and shouldn't be care takers of the entire world. You can't expect us to continue to borrow more money to just put a band-aid on the influx of human beings in our country illegally. Fix our borders. Instead of sending our troops around the world, bring them back home to secure our borders. Who is going to pay for this? Me, my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchilren plus all the other tax-payers in the United States. We are tired. We have lost our jobs; we have lost our homes; we have lost our savings; we are afraid we will lose social security; but mostly we have lost hope in government.

For the thousands of children who are in Nogales illegally, send them back home. We, as citizens, can't afford to care and house them. Show them and their parents, that enough is enough, and that this is not going to tolerated. You need to come to Arizona to see just what is going on here. I was born in the United States, but I feel like I'm a foriegner in my own land. It's becoming little Mexico. My grandchildren and great grandchildren are falling further and further behind in school, because all the immigrants who come here can't read or speak English, but the teachers have to teach them first. My grandchildren come home so frustrated because they already know English and feel this is a waste of time. They are not learning anything. I am not against anyone who wants to better themselves and come to the United States legally, but I do take offense to anyone who enters the country illegally. Tell me, how many millions of people are here illegally? It's absolutely shameful. Do you think I feel safe in my own country? The answer is NO!!

People who enter illegally should not be able to get welfare, food stamps,Social Security, amenisty or citizenship for their unborn child. This should also stop the influx of millions of immigrants. PLEASE HELP!!!

Please secure our borders.

Ev-Lyn Shaw
