I am a Ghanaian and I went for my student visa interview on Tuesday 5th August 2014, at 7:30am but unfortunately I was denied a visa. I cannot best tell why and no apparent reason was given to me. I acknowledge that the embassy reserves the right to issue or deny visa to anyone if it so pleases. I was asked just two questions; how many schools I have applied for and whether I work or not. My response was that, I applied for six ( three PhD programs and three Master's programs ) and received admission from four (one PhD program and all the three Master's programs) and also I work at Choice Ghana as a research officer.
I have a good GRE score and 17 schools including Wharton school, Notre Dame just to mention a few found me through the GRE locator services and wrote to me to apply.
The school I am trying to go to (East Tennessee State University) offered me full graduate teaching assistantship which includes a tuition waiver and $8969.00 which covers from September 2014 to June 2015. The deadline for arrival is 20th August 2014.
I cannot afford the cost of graduate studies in my home country and USA has offered a salvation path for people like me. It is only USA education that offers equal opportunity to both the rich and the poor. It is only USA where education does not only teach breadwinner but also teaches one to give back to the society - that what happens to the man next door matters. All these no doubt makes the USA education the best in the world and why I want to study there.
I do not want to miss this opportunity to further my education. I would like to stress that I have no intention of staying in USA after my studies - I have no relative living in USA but I need the education so that I can be equipped adequately with the knowledge and skill to also contribute to the development of my community.
I need your help. Thank you.
