Unemployment extension.

Hello Mr. President,

I am writing to you because I am so upset how the government is handling the unemployment extension bill. I have worked 25 years and have only applied for unemployment twice in my lifetime. I worked for the last 10 years and I am now unemployed because of lack of work. I received 6 months of unemployment and since the end of February have not had any income at all. I apply to 3 to 5 jobs daily and many of those jobs are 8 to 10 dollars less than what I was making. I am very qualified for the positions I am applying for and in fact I am over qualified for most. I have had only 3 interviews in the last 8 months Companies do not want to see people in person, they only want to hear from you my email contact. And in fact many of the companies are "Company Confidential" so there is no way to contact that company to ensure they received my resume. So it is not from a lack of trying on my part. I resent that I am considered a couch potato because really, should I sit back and relax with unemployment paying me half of what my salary was. How can a family live on that, when you accustomed to 50 thousand a year for the last 10 years and now nothing. If this extension does not go thru I will never re coup the money I borrowed from my savings account which is about $6,000.00. That amount of money does not seem to be a lot of money but to families struggling it is everything. Especially since I will hopefully be getting a job that will pay me 15 thousand dollars less than the salary I held for the last 10 years. I believe that I am an American who deserves to receive more than 6 months of unemployment. It had always been 6 months of unemployment from your state then 6 months from federal. And that should be enough to help people find their jobs.

I cannot understand why congress wants to give tax cuts to Companies and these companies are not paying their employees what they are really worth. One company could save 8 to 10 dollars less an hour from one employee, so why would you want to reward this company with tax cuts and put more money back in the hands of the employers and not the employees.

Please President Obama, you know the importance of family and having the ability to get out and do things with family. Without any income it is difficult to just feed our families. Our children should be blessed with being able to go to the zoo or out to dinner once in a while. I'm not even talking about Disneyland because that is a thousand dollar day to a family of 5. Something needs to be done and this extension needs to happen to allow people to get some of their pride back.
