On 7 August, 1782 General George Washington created the "Badge of Military Merit" to be presented to Soldiers for "any singularly meritorious action." The award was forgotten until 1932 when, on Washington's 200th birthday, the U.S. War Department announced the creation of the "Order of the Purple Heart."

The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action. Learn more athttp://www.purpleheart.org/

We honor their service and sacrifices.

I would be deeply honored to see before I die a medal made for all Viet Nam Veterans and there children. the above statement was for all in combat injuries or deaths from combat injuries. The Viet Nam Veterans like me who came home with no injuries from bomb, or shells but are living with expose to agent orange. the children who suffer from all sort of ailments from the chemical. that we as Veterans carry in our body and passed to them. There is no cure for this problem but death. I watch my brothers and sisters of arms falling over and dying from a WAR were we came home to angry Americans. This country owes so much to us and it slowly is waking up to the fact. today help me make this request come true for so many of us Viet Nam Veterans.
thank you
