Pact5: Student and Faculty Campaign to Prevent Sexual Assaults in Colleges

Dear President and Michelle Obama,

This past year five Universities decided to do something about sexual assaults and rapes on college campuses. Five student film crews from these universities made 10 short documentaries that addressed the epidemic of sexual assaults in colleges. These documentaries involved over 100 students and seven faculty documentary teachers from Rowan University (NJ), Framingham State University (MA), Northern Illinois University, Western State Colorado University, and California State University at Northridge. As far as we know, this approach has never been done before.

The campaign is called Pact5. Students, parents, families, friends, faculty and administrators are invited to watch the documentaries then Make the Pact against sexual assaults. This student-faculty campaign is endorsed by the Clery Center for Security on Campus (originators of the Clery Act). The documentaries have been viewed by over 10,000 people on YouTube, Vimeo, and Films for Action. Students using the documentary form to create stories that focus on awareness and prevention of sexual assault for other students is working.

We hear your call to service and our goal is to sign up every college in the US. Please Make the Pact and join Pact5. Our story is at this web address pact5.org

Best regards,

Ned
