Dear Mr. President,
I don't think you will see this but i had to just air my complaints to you as a working mother who has not had health insurance for six years I have several complaints that i just needed to tell you about. I have worked since i was 17 years old. I worked for free in my senior year of High School for a Chiropractor because i so badly wanted to be in the medical field so a friend asked if i would be willing to help her friend after school and i would get some job experience so i said yes and i worked after school for free for a doctor in town. When i graduated they hired me full time at 3.50 an hour and i was so grateful, i never had to go to school to be trained. Something that i see everyday, Welfare Mothers who are told their benefits will be cut and they are offered schooling to become Medical Assistants through schools like Heald College and other schools in town and i see commercials on TV for these schools advertising and a girl actually says and don't forget you get to wear cute scrubs. This humilates me very much, i am 51 years old now, and i had to apply for Covered California Healthcare and for 34.80 a month i get coverage which gives me a 4500 dollar deductible thats not coverage at all. I have major depression and anxiety due to all that life has hit me with. I have a single daughter living with me who has a 19 month old child, that we together could not support even with my daughters food stamps and Medi-cal which they dropped for her, so my exhushand a school teacher took the child to live with him because i could no longer afford diapers and formula. I am struggling, my car blew the head gasket and i tried to buy another car to get to work and i had to cash in my retirement and as of today my loan has not been approved so my car may be reposessed then i will not have a way to get to work. The doctor i work for did not give me insurance so i had to buy it and now its doubled for the premiums and i intend on cancelling it and paying the penalty with my taxes which will then sink me. I have severe depression and have attempted suicide several times due to financial difficultys, but affordable health care yeah its affordable for the monthly payments or it was but it won't be now so i am cancelling it and i am a medical biller and will tell all my patients that is not good coverage and i am cancelling mine, i think i could make it if i give up my apartment and live on the streets like my two sons are currently doing. America is sadly going under. I may survive don't know yet but i am cancelling my insurance or i will lose my car and not be able to get to work and then i will either be on mental disability or fired and on unemployment. We dont' eat three meals at day and i am working my butt off. Not a good life i guess i should lose weight so someone with another job would like to marry me to help support me. You can't make it in this country as a single mother anymore when you work so no wonder everyone seaks umemployment and medi-cal.
