Dear Mr. President,
I can only imagine what it must be like to see an American citizen murdered. I can only imagine what it must be like seeing them murdered with such inhuman savageness. It's so easy to question our leaders when something so horrific occurs but it's an entirely different matter to say, "yeah well we should do this." As the Commander in Chief of the greatest military in the history of the world, I can only imagine what it must be like to know what you could do vs. What you should do. I am so sorry for what pain must be weighing on your heart after the murder of Mr. Foley. I am not a terribly religious person but Mr. President I pray for you. I pray for you and the heart wrenching options and decisions that must be on your plate right now and pray that God steer you in the right direction. I don't know the direction and I wouldn't pretend to tell you what you should do knowing that, any decision, if you follow it from A to B to C are all fraught with potential disaster. Please bear in mind the innocent among us but have the strength to see through the ignorant or willingly blind bliss of those that allow such atrocities to happen before their eyes because they are not the ones being murdered.
Please reflect upon the lessons of history and what such horror can do to a planet and every nation on it. Please protect us from this cancer on the planet. You are arguably one of the best orators in modern history. Lead us. Galvanize us to a purpose. Nobody wants to be a wartime leader but that's where you're at and it's not because you were/are a damn cowboy. It's because the world has taken a turn and you have to acknowledge and address that change. However ugly and painful and disgusting handling it might be, you need to lead us through this. God bless you.
