Retrain our police
- Cheryl E.

Dear Mr. President,
I am a 69 year daughter, mother, grandmother, RN and business owner from Perryopolis , Pennsylvania. I am happy to hear that the gestapo like actiions are recognized. I am a white women and installed a camera in my car. Why? I am sick and tired of being disrespected by the police. I have worked the 3-11 shift and most often on the road after 1 am. I have been pulled over many times just because it's after midnight and checked to see if I have been drinking. I show them my badge and it doesn't make a difference to them. They remain arrogant and disrespectful. I fear the police. I can remember when we could depend on our police. When my 16 year old granddaughter was 3 years old and saw a police car she would say "No Cops" She saw them in action and was afraid. In my area it doesn't make a difference if you are black or white. I must say that I have seen the police treat the black young people different than others. I use to have a business in California Pa. Home of California University. My husband and I personally sued the California Police Department for profiling., The department was to be retrained and undergo sensitivity training., It never happened as I know. I have had many complaints regarding the treatment of black students to the NAACP and didn't get action. I guess it wasn't high profile enough.,
I do feel that what happened in Ferguson was uncalled for and Mr. Brown's stepfather needs to be arrested for inciting a riot along with everyone that broke the law. Mr Brown broke the law and the officer was within his rights to shoot this young man. It's is very sad this happened but, and feel sad for his Mother.
It's a shame took this death for you and your team to address the issue. I do wonder what you would have done if it were a white young man or women. We all deserve to feel safe when we are approached by anyone from the police department.
No matter what got your attention, I am glad this happened we all need protected no matter what our race.
