Dear Mr. President,
Dear Mr. President,
My name is Mr. Michael R. Ivy and I am a seasoned Registered Nurse. I am appalled along with most Americans with the derelict situation concerning the Veterans Administration. I also observed that part of the problem was lack of staff, i.e. Lack of Physicians, Nurses, and others in ancillary positions. I am here to inform you that this Registered Nurse has applied numerous times for nursing positions throughout the country and spoke with a few administrators about working for the Veterans Administrators, and never received a return call, notice in the mail, or even a polite refusal via email.
My argument isn't that I did not get a job the premise is, I called, wrote, and spoke to several people in the government, how this common everyday civilian could give back to the men and women who sacrificed so much during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan...I went so far as to call a Marine recruiter to volunteer my experience to do my part...even though I may be sixty sir, I as well as a myriad of men my age should be the ones to tow the line, line the trenches, storm the barricades and charge into battle...we may be old but I'd rather die for my county and allow the young to stay home and raise families...we are expendable sir, we have lived a long and fruitful life. If ever you need us all you have to do is call...
Excuse my digression sir, but hopefully I have demonstrated my heartfelt desired to give back to the brave men and women who have served this country. My father served in three wars and now my baby, my son has served two tours in Iraq and still an active member in the military.
Please sir, allow me to return to work after cancer almost cost me my life and allow me to use my experience and desire to help sir...just help...I am not a burden, I sir, am a very experienced Registered Nurse ready, willing, and able to join the Veterans Administration and provide optimum care for our Veterans.
Mr. Michael R. Ivy
